Everyone in the city was Irish Sunday when the St. Patrick’s Day parade steped off at 1:30 p.m. from Sherman Avenue and Chapel Street.
The parade is said to be the largest single-day spectator event in the state, drawing some 300,000 who this year will watch 3,000 marchers, 38 school bands, 12 fife and drum companies, 12 bagpipe bands, 10 fire departments and eight police honor guards.
