The Carolina Chocolate Drops — Leyla McCalla, Dom Flemons, Rhiannon Giddens and Hubby Jenkins — took their modern take on traditional American music from Southern black music and jigs to early jazz and country classics and performed on the mainstage at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas on the New Haven Green. The Festival estimated the crowd at 25,000.
