AP – Britain’s new prince has been named George Alexander Louis, royal officials said Wednesday, ending speculation over what moniker Prince William and his wife, Kate, would pick for their first child. Kensington Palace said the royals are “delighted to announce” their son’s name, adding that the 2-day-old baby and third-in-line to the throne will be known as “His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.”
Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Britain’s Prince William welcomed their first child, a baby boy weighing in at 8lbs. 6 oz, into the world at 4:24 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, in the Lindo Wing at Saint Mary’s Hospital in west London. The baby is third in line to the English throne behind his father William and grandfather Prince Charles. The royal couple announced they were expecting their first child last December when the Duchess underwent a four-day stay in the hospital for severe morning sickness.
